The US battleship had been sent to Cuba to protect American interests there and in response to the DeLome letter. It blew up for unknown reasons and led to a mass public call for war with Spain. -

A US naval force entered the bay to begin taking the Phillipenes. They defeated the Spanish fleet stationed and took Manila. -
Battle of San Juan Hill
US Army forces including the Calvary reg. led by Teddy Roosevelt were driving on Santiago de Cuba. They rushed the San Juan Heights and took them. -
Treaty of Paris
The Spanish had been defeated across the world. They sued for peace but lost their status as an empire.
