The De Lôme letter is a private note leaked by journalist in which, Señor Don Enrique Dupuy de Lôme, the Spanish Ambassador og the United States, writes to Don José Canelejas, the Foreign Minister of Spain, revealing de Lôme’s opinion about the Spanish involvement in Cuba and US President McKinley’s diplomacy. -
Sinking of the USS Maine
The United States battleship was blown up in an explosion which killed 260 men on board. This explosio was speculated to be purposefully attacked by Spain. It was never proven and believed to be te cause of the Spanish American War. -
