Treaty of Paris is signed by Spain and US in Paris, France. At the peace talks, Spain freed Cuba and gave the US the islands of Guam in the Pacific Ocean and Puerto Rico in the West Indies. Spain sells US Philippines to US for 20 million dollars. -

Guantanamo Bay Naval Base Established
After the Cuban-American Treaty, the Cuba leased the USA 45 sq miles for a refueling station for their battleships.
