Lincoln announces Ten Percent Plan
Lincoln's Ten Percent Plan was the beginning of his Reconstruction of the United States. This plan states that in order for a state to be readmitted, at least 10% of the state's voters have to swaer a loyalty oath to the Union and agree to end slavery, -
Lincoln vetoes Wade-Davis BIll
The Radical Republicans proposed the Wads-Davis Bill becasue they tought that Lincoln's plan would leave too much power in the hands of former Confedrate ledership. This Bill recquired the sates to accept the end of slavery and to grant all African American men the right to vote. -

The 13th Admendment stated that African Americans were no longer enslaved and could not be owned as property. -
Mississippi enacts first Black Code
Black Codes were laws that made African Americans second-laws citizens. Thses laws denied African Americans the right to vote, and made a life of a free African American restricted to simpile things. -
Radical Republicans
Radical Republicans were a fraction of American politicans within the Republican party that believed that blacks were entitled to the same rights and opportunities as whites. -
1st,2nd,3rd Reconstruction Acts
The 1st Reconstruction Act was to provide for a more efficient government for the rebel states. This act came into place because the states refused to ratify the 14th Admendment. So this act divied the 10 "unconstructed states" ino 5 military districts. -
Johnson impeached
President Johnson was impeached because he wanted to be lenient with the South but the Congress wanted to punish the South. So he vetoed many bills and this lead to the impeachment. -
14th Admendment Ratified
The 14th Admendment's purpose was to undo legal concessions that have been made to slavery since writing the Constitution. It also granted citizenship to "all persons born or naturalized in the U.S.A.", which also included former slaves that were recently freed. -
Ulysses S. Grant elected
President Grant became President after Johnson was impeached. He wanted to take a more moderate path for Reconstrustion. He ratified the 15th Admendment. -
Sharecropping
A system of where a landowner gave a small part of their land to former slaves to grow crops and than the former slave share a part of their crops. -
15th Admendment
The 15th Admendment granted voting right to the African Americans. -
Enforcement Acts
Enforcment Acts were three bills passed by the Congress, they protected the right of African Americans. -
Amnesty Act of 1872
This act allowed most former Confedrates to vote again. -
