Sputnik
Sputnik was the first artificial satellite in space. Launched by the Soviet Union on Oct 4 1957it sparked the beginning of the of the space race. It was made for scientific research in outer space. But the USA thought it was made to spy on them so they changed how kids were taught making math and science first everything else second. -

Tiros 1
Tiros 1 is the first working weather satellite to be launched into space. It was launched Jan 4 1960 and was designed to test experimental techniques for taking television pictures of weather. It made knowing what weather was to come wasn’t a guess. -
Lunar Module
The old lunar module was the landing craft that brought mankind to the moon. It was made to land on the moon the start up its engines and come back to earth it did exactly what it was made when it launched on July 10 1960 with Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin to the moon. It really was “one small step for man one giant leap for mankind”. -
Canadarm
The Canadarm was made for helping astronauts in space. The Canadarm was launched Nov 13 1981 and as you guessed it was made by Canada. The main spots the Canadarm was used for was grabbing satellites and repairing the space craft. This invention of the Canadarm makes me feel proud to be Canadian. -
Canadarm 2
The Canadarm 2 was the upgrade to the Canadarm. Launch April 19 2001 it was made for the same reasons the Canadarm was made. Being installed to the ISS (International Space Station) was great saving repair time and keeping astronauts safe out in space. This made me feel truly Canadian. -
Spirit Rover
Spirit was the twin of the Opportunity Rover. Being launched on June 10, 2003 and landing on the planet mars on January 4, 2004 it was the first to land and disappeared on March 22, 2010. Its landing point Gusev crater which NASA thought had been affected by water. This was the second longest operation done by NASA with Viking 1 in first place -
Opportunity Rover
The second of Spirit and Opportunity to launch was Opportunity. Opportunity was launched July 7, 2003 landed on mars on January 25, 2004 and is still working today. Opportunity’s landing point was meridiani planum on the other side of mars of Spirit. This rover is very important to the world
