Refracting Telescope-Galileo
-This invention accomplished big things throughout the years in that time period. Galileo made a refracting telescope which made things that are in the distance be nearer and larger. -
Reflecting telescope-Sir Isaac Newton
-This invention had accomplished many thing like having a curved mirror instead of lenses. The mirror helps focus the light. This telescope doesn't have to carry the big heavy lenses, it could carry the curved mirror. It is a good thing that this big because it can collect more light than other telescopes. -
Three laws of motion-Isaac Newton
-The first law is "An object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon a force"
The second law is "Force equals mass multiplied by acceleration"
The third law is "To every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction"
These laws made everything that was unsolved dealing with motion easier to study. Like dealing with the Rocket theory in 1687. -
Liquid fuel rockets-Robert Goddard
-This made an accomplishment because this rocket doesn't use gunpowder to make it go, it uses liquid fuel. The liquid fuel helps the rocket go through Earth, and even beyond Earth. -
Space Race-Soviet Union/United States
-This event made an accomplishment because the two sides made better missiles and better technologies for rockets. During the war they made those missiles have better impact and the rockets have better technologies. -
Sputnik 1-Soviet Union/United States
-This event made an accomplishment because this was the first artificial satellite ever put into orbit. This was orbiting earth for 3 months and then it burned up from rubbing with Earth’s atmosphere. -
First Person In Space-Soviet Union
-This mission made an accomplishment because it was the first human to be in space. It made a big impact in the world and showed that sending a human to outer space is possible. -
First people to step on the moon-John F. Kennedy/Neil Armstrong/Buzz Aldrin
-This mission made an amazing accomplishment because it was the time where the first people that landed on the moon. John F. Kennedy challenged the Soviet Union to be the first people to land on the moon. 8 years later the Apollo 11 happened, we beat the Soviet Union to be on the moon first. -
First space station-Soviet Union
-This event made an accomplishment because the Salyut 1 studied the problems in living things in space. The others studied military things. -
U.S. First space station-United States
-This event made an accomplishment because it was the only space station that the U.S. has sent outer space. It was studying the sun and came back to Earth in 1979. -
Space shuttle Challenger-United States
-This had an accomplishment because it was the first space shuttle to be made, but when it got blasted off it disintegrated and there were seven people on board.The rockets weren’t working because it had a small piece in it. -
Mir space station-Soviet Union/Russia/United States
-This mission had an accomplishment because it was the first space station for long time use in the future. It had separate pieces going with it in space but it put the pieces together in space. It holds the record for lasting in space for almost 10 years. -
Hubble space telescope-United States
-This mission had an accomplishment because it was the first telescope to go into outer space. The last repairs of the Hubble telescope was in 2009. -
Rover-United States
-This had an accomplishment because it was the first to be landed into mars and lasted years and years. The rover helped collect data from Mars to Earth. -
Cassini Mission-United States
-This mission made an accomplishment because it was the first mission to study Saturn's rings and its moons, especially the moon Titan. But when it was coming back to Earth, it collided with a comet and started flying in dust particles.
