The first teams to join the SEC conference University of Alabama, Auburn University, the University of Florida, the University of Georgia, the University of Kentucky, Louisiana State University ("LSU"), the University of Mississippi ("Ole Miss"), Mississippi State University, the University of Tennessee, Vanderbilt University, The University of the South, Georgia Institute of Technology, and Tulane University. -
1990 Expansion
In 1990 the SEC added two more schools to their conference, The University of South Carolina and University of Arkansa. -
SEC Cha,pionship football game
The first SEC championship game was played between the Alabama Crimson Tide who defeated the Florida Gators 28-21. -
2012 Expansion
On July 1, 2012 Texas A&M University and University of Missouri joined the SEC leaving the Big 12 conference. -
SEC Network
The SEC Network began on August 14, 2014. This shows the sports games involving teams from the SEC Conference, this shows 24/7 sports content from the SEC. This will include 45 SEC football games, 100 men's basketball games, 60 women's basketball games, 75 baseball games, 50 softball games and additional events from the SEC's 21 annual sports.
