    The British captured The Cape in 1795 to prevent it from falling into French hands. This was after the French revolution. The battle was called The Battle Of Muizenberg

    The Cape was relinquished back to the Dutch. The Cape is now under the rule of the Dutch again.

    The British receive The Capes as a prize during the Napoleonic wars. Similar to the Dutch before, the Brits had little interest in The Cape and kept just a strategically located port.
