We learn that the main character lives in Kansas City, that she is Jewish and within the first bit she is describing a mans chest with an eagle tattoo, along with a tattoo on him that says Mother and toe tattoos spelling Lets fuck. Along with that description of this man we also learn he was in jail and that is abig deal to her. -
Names
We quickly learn that her name is Jenny Jaffe, he is William Cole Mcdonald. Jenny is quick to ask her mother for William to come to their Rosh Hashanah. Her mother has a seemingly large issue with that considering he isnt jewish and he has no religious background. -
Graduation From Grade 11
June was a beginning of a war she plainly put, but along with the beginning of the war she also graduated. -
Discussion Among Friends
Jenny along with her freinds meet for lunch, one main converstaion that is brought up is that Jenny cant possibly marry a man that works at a gas station, along with the gas station issue it is made clear that william has anger issues, her firends and most of the town have heard about william almost beating a guy to death only because the man cut them off in a parking lot. -
Dancing
Jenny and her dance teacher have a serious run in, her dance teacher Miss. Palevsky is trying to figure out why jenny no longer seems intrested in her dance where at one point it was everything to her. She hides the fact she has will in her life so that her teacher wont tell her mom about william being a distraction to her. -
Father Daughter Discussion
Jenny and her father have a discussion and we learn that his point of view on Jenny and William is that it's just a fling that will be over when she goes of to Mizzo in september, but she breaks the news thats she wants to sudy dance but he ignores that and lables it as another thing that will passe. -
Graduation Baby
Jenny discribes the perfect school as them all graduating with their gowns and caps and underneath their gows a small baby bump, and how all the girls would hold eachothershair as everyone of them threw up. of course this is where we learn that William and her are having a child and William wants to take her to Bakersfeild or further north marry and have their child. -
Baby issues
Jenny is about 4 months pregnant, William is no longer in the picture he left, but he left because Jennys parents bribed him she belives, they set her to a take in home for pregnant wayward teens as she described it, a place to have the child and then the child is put up for adoption. -
Birth
She always was able to hear the sounds of her friends giving birth and after having her roommate give birth and not wanting to let go of what she called "buster" Jenny was in full denial the night she started to feel the contractions and just pushed them off as being ill, she later then that night woke up to stronger and more intense contractions closer together.
