  • Blitz Krieg

    Hitlers offensive attack, called the lightning war, against Poland. This was a part of the non-agression pact with Germany and Russia.
  • Declaring War on Germany

    Britain and France officialy declared war on Germay.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Japan bombed the USA's Pearl Harbor, causing them to officially enter into WWII.
  • Battle of the Coral Sea

    The allied forces defeated the Japanese! General Douglas MacArthur was the commander of the land forces. This changed the outcome of the war and stopped Japanese aggression in the Pacific.
  • Battle of Midway

    American ships sank four Japanese air craft carriers. The Japanese never regained thier losses from that battle.
  • The Tehran Conference

    Determined the Final assalt on Germany- The allies were going to invade through France in the spring of 1944. The day they would invade becae known as D-day.
  • D-day

    The largest water to land invasion in history. General Dwight D Eisenhower led the invasion. The soldiers were American, Canadian, and British troops who crossed the English chanel to the beaches of Normandy and France. This invasion was successful.
  • Battle of the Bulge

    Germans counter attacked the allies after they had broken through German lines in Normandy.
  • Yalta Conference

    This was a Eastern European conference, Britain, the USSR, and the USA were involved. Stalin wanted to prevent western aggression. FDR asked Stalin for help in the Pacific against Japan and in return they would get some Japanese terrritory.
  • President Roosevelt Dies

    Vice President Harry S. Truman took over as the President of the United States of America.
  • Marshall Plan

    Marshall rebuilt the European economy to help avoid the spread of communism all over the world.
  • United Nations Formed

    The United Nations was formed. Their goal was to sustain world peace between the nations fighting, and to encourage friendlinees between these same nations.
  • Germany Surrenders

    The end of WWII in Europe. German surrenders, known as victory-in-Europe day (or V-E day). This concluded the war in Europe.
  • Hitlers Death

    The allied troops met near Berlin, Germany (the capital) and learned that Hitler had killed himself
  • Pots Dam Conference

    This included Stalin, Churchill and Truman as the Eastern European disscussion advanced. Confirmed the plan to occupy Germany and so Poland could elect leaders freely.
  • First attomic Bomb

    This was the first attomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. It was dropped by an American bomber and it killed over 75,ooo civilians. Japan still didn't surrender.
  • Second Attomic bomb

    the United States dropped the second attomic bomb on Nagasaki, Japan. This killed even more Japanese civilians.
  • Japan Surrenders

    Japan officially surrendered, causing the end of WWII.
  • Iron Curtain Address

    Winston Churchill gave this speeh at Westminster College. It warned that the Soviet Union was making a communication barrier (or Iron Curtain) in Eastern Europe.
  • The US giving Money

    The USA gave Greece and Turkey four hundred million dollars to help them get rid of Communist revolts.
  • Soviet Blockade

    The French, British and American zones joined together to make West Germany when the Soviets refused to leave, they created East Germany. The Soviet reaction was to cut off West Berlin from the world with a blockade.
  • Stalin Ended Blockade

    Stalin ended the blackade of Berlin, Germany.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Soviet Union creaded a military alliance with Eastern European nations but they were all dominated by Soviet control.
  • Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall was built overnight, causing outrage among the people of Berlin.
  • Berlin Wall Falls

    The Berlin Wall came crumbling down after keeping East Germans in East Germany for 28 years.
