    A Star is Born
Sofie Leah Delidow was born on 2/29/08 at 11:02 a.m. at William Beaumont RO Hospital. She was 1 llbs 15 oz and 13" long. She was born at 26 weeks gestation. She came out crying such a little cry. Mommy was able to take a peak at her before she was rushed to the NICU.

  • What's in a name?

    What's in a name?
Sofie, your dad and I went to see the movie Da Vinci Code (starring Tom Hanks and Audrey Tatou) back in May 2006. She played the part of Sofie and at that moment your dad and I looked at one another and exclaimed "When we get pregnant, our daughter will be named Sofie!"
  • Eyes Wide Shut

    Eyes Wide Shut
You first opened your eyes around 1 week old. You opened your eyes when Ella came to see you and when she began to talk and sing to you.. You opened your eyes. The nurse assisted you with waving hello to sister Ella.
  • Holding my tiny girl

    Holding my tiny girl
Sofie sleeps with her butt in the air like her old sister. She has the bluest eyes.. they are soo beautiful. Her brown eyes will more than likely be just as beautiful. Today I was able to hold Sofie on my chest. Ooo here warm little body.. it was Lovely! The nurse was so kind to offer me a mirror so I could see her as I held her.
  • Leaps and Bounds

    Leaps and Bounds
You are doing so well. Everyday you make strides towards coming home. Mommy and Daddy not only get to hold you, but we can assist with your feedings and change your diapers. YIPEE
  • Gramma Summers

    Gramma Summers
I have this image as being the first where Gramma Summers was able to hold you. What a sweet little girl.
  • Sofie comes home

    Sofie comes home
I received a phone call from NICU saying it is time to go and buy a car seat because Sofie is ready to come home! We had to pad her car seat with SEVERAL blankets so that she would be secure. Sofie smacks her lips when she is done with her bottle. Sometimes she startles herself.
  • Sparky Anderson

    Sparky Anderson
They tag team each other and take turn crying and fussing. If you soothe one, both stop crying. Until you put that one down and then the other one starts up. Sofie, however, doesn't relent. She never tires of crying. If you were to look straight down her throat during one of her fits.. you'll see sparks.
  • WholeHeartedly

    WholeHeartedly
Sofie has the small hole in her heart repaired by the doctors at the Children's Medical Hospital. They inserted a coil that plugged the hole completely. It was asymptomatic, but it showed no improvement in closing on its own.
The operation was done by Dr. Forbes and Dr. Turner and was broadcast live across the country to other doctors in the same field. Collaboration at its best!
  • ROFL

    ROFL
Sofie laughs outlound and then rolls over from back to front!
  • Psychadelic

    Psychadelic
Sofie just got done with her meal.. and she begins to wave her hands slowly with her eyes closed.. Looked like some sort of interpretive dance.
  • Can I get a lift?

    Can I get a lift?
Sofie is able to support her head and shoulders while laying on her stomach.
  • A girl on the go

    A girl on the go
Sofie loves to smila and stare at her sisters. She rolls everywhere and is never where I put her just a few minutes before.
  • Thumb Sucker

    Thumb Sucker
Sofie is going to be a thumb sucker. She also finds a way to the corner of the crib and prefers to sleep on her stomach.
  • Major Rasberries

    Major Rasberries
Sofie and Yonna are blowing rasberries. Sofie's version is more like spitting. Yonna uses her tongue more..and both babies manage to get their faces covered in drool.
  • 9 Months

    9 Months
When Sofie is put down for her nap, she wants to be placed on her tummy. She likes to rock back and forth while sitting on your lap. Her hair is growing in with these amazing curls. She is going to be a lil thumb sucker.
  • Opposites attract

    Opposites attract
Sofie prefers to lay on her tummy and likes to rock back in forth while sitting on your lap..she is always moving. Her curly hair is getting sooo long. Sofie also sucks her thumb and likes to cuddle up with yoru shirt or blanket.
  • Nah Nah

Sofie likes sticking out her tongue. She keeps it out of her mouth for so long that I am surprised it doesn't dry out. She is also trying to crawl. Her legs and feet are working, but not her hands.
  • Blehhhh

    Blehhhh
Sofie likes ticking out her tongue. She keeps it out of her mouth for so long that I am surprised it doesn't dry out. She is also trying to crawl. Her legs have the right idea and are moving, but her hands didn't get the message.
  • Look at me!

    Look at me!
Sofie sits up on her own for around 30 seconds. She was slumped over a bit, but it counts!
  • Da dah dah

    Da dah dah
Sofie says Da Da Da Dah. The girls love "talking" to one another. It won't be long until Yonna is saying Da Dah
  • That's not for babies

    That's not for babies
Discovered that Sofie wants toys that don't belong to babies. This includes, but not limited to, remote controls, keyboards, etc. If she loses hold of it, she begins to cry. She also tried to crawl towards it.
  • Now see this

    Now see this
Sofie sits on her own for around 30 seconds. She was slumped over a bit, but it still counts.
  • "I am here to warn you.. becareful of my leaves"

"I am here to warn you.. becareful of my leaves"
Sofie was found next to the house plant. She pulled the leaves off and bits of leaf was in her clenched hands. Lord only knows how much managed to get into her mouth.. I don't know it know..but this is the start of a very frightful year of finding things in her mouth.
  • And we're rollin... ROLLIN..

    And we're rollin... ROLLIN..
Yes Yes..she has been rolling for quite some time. She is now using it as a means of getting places. She'll roll herself right underneath a chair..or an end table.
  • "Tooth Hurty"

    "Tooth Hurty"
Sofie has a tooth! I cannot see it, but I can feel it. She's too busy sticking her tongue out of her mouth for me to get a good look.
  • Mama Mia

    Mama Mia
No one is going to believe me.. but when Sofie saw me.. she said.. Mama. Steve said she said the same to him.. Mama that is.
  • Be not afraid

    Be not afraid
Sofie and Yonna aren't afraid of the things that startle most babies. They chase the vacuum cleaner around. The tear the heating vent cover off to peer inside.. They always manage to find items hidden under the couches..that are not intended for babies..
  • Not for babies..

When Sofie gets a "Not for babies" object in her hand...and she often does..you can hear her celebrating in the next room. If I hear a exclaimation full of delight..I know to come running..
  • Mouth full of teeth

    Mouth full of teeth
Sofie is getting teeth in one-by-one. She is now working on her fifth. Blurry picture, but it has the best shot of her teeth.
  • I have something to say..

    I have something to say..
Sofie insists on talking when you put food in her mouth.. She either likes the way it feels to spit out food..or enjoys making a mess.. I think that it might be both.
  • Climb every mountain top

    Climb every mountain top
We have a climber. Grandpa Summers thought he would let Sofie go roaming around the house in an effort to "tire" her out. Sofie doesn't tire very easily. After several mintues of roaming we find her on the forth stair. Totally unexpected!
  • Stand Tall

    Stand Tall
Sofie attempts to stand on her own. She prefers the softness of the bed. She positioned herself so that she could lean up against me where only below her knee was touching me.. Stood tall for a few seconds..and then for good measure.. clapped her hands repeatedly.
  • I can brush my hair

    I can brush my hair
Sofie actually will sit still for one thing..and one thing only. Getting her hair brushed. She actually enjoys it. Here she is brushing her own hair.
  • Peek a Boo

When Sofie plays peek a boo... she overs her eyes with the back of her hands.
  • Ooo Yum

    Ooo Yum
It happened soo quickly.. I turned my head for a second... Sofie put something in her mouth off the floor again.. It could not have been bigger than a spec.. but still!! She really accentuated it too... like in slow mo.. (not sure if you have ever tried to remove something from a babies mouth) She locks her jaw so tight..there is no way you could pry it open.. then she says.. "ooo yum"
  • Take a stand!

    Take a stand!
Last night.. I stood for Daddy for about 5 seconds.. then I realized no one was holding on to me. She does this thing where she stands, claps her hands, and then waves her hands about like.. "I'm not touching you".. After just a few seconds..she lunges for you..
  • ABC.. As easy as Do Ra Mi

ABC.. As easy as Do Ra Mi
Okay..you don't have to believe me, but for the last couple of weeks.. Sofie has been saying some of the letters in her ABC's. I have it on video some where.
  • I can't see the keys, but I can still play!

I can't see the keys, but I can still play!
Since we got our piano, I sometimes hear someone tinkling the keys. I always thought it was Ella.. Then.. the piano was being played and Ella wasn't home! It was lil Sofie standing at the keys..playing her little heart out.
  • "Who turned off the tv!?"

    "Who turned off the tv!?"
Sofie has discovered the function of the tv buttons and turns off the tv whenever she can. Also, we had to pull her bed away from the wall because she unplugged the lamp.. Which only brought her closer to the curtains she likes to tug on..and the bed side table where she reaches through the bars and pushes things off of. Thanks Sofie.
  • Take a stand!

My new game.. is standing..and falling down hard on the floor.. I giggle..and laugh.. I just love this GAME.. Today I thought I would stand for 15 seconds.. mom stepped away to see if I would walk towards her.. I came towards her alright.. my front half came..but my feet didn't budge.. Timberrrrrrrr
  • Snuggle Bug

    Snuggle Bug
Sofie loves to pop her thumb in her mouth..and snuggle up to something..anything.. I saw her snggle up to her smoothie bottle and most recently.. her stroller cup holder.. yeah.. really..
  • Zero Standards

    Zero Standards
Sofie will eat anything... ANYTHING.. she doesn't examine it..or smell it.. Heck..I don't think she even chews it. I have to keep her from eating the lil dried up bits of food that fell inside her high chair from the previous meal... YIKES
  • Hi Da! Byeee

    Hi Da! Byeee
Sofie can say Hi...and Bye.. clear as a bell.. she says it over and over again..
  • Sofie Words

    Sofie Words
Crackie - Cracker but sounds more like cracker
Wooooahhh - I'm going to toss my head back please let go of me
Hi and Byeee - Standard greeting
    Grampa - That's GRAMPA..not gramma..
Weeee and Meee - It's fun to rhyme
  • One small step for baby kind

Sofie climbed the entire stairwell today!! No assistance and without hesitation!
  • I don't really want to talk about it

Let's just say.. I didn't notice that Sofie's diaper fell off when I picked her up and put her into the high chair.. Needless to say.. it was a GRUESOME ordeal involving 25 wipes.. which..only really scratched the surface.. a bath and a scrub brush did the job.. no matter how many times I wash my hands.. they are still not clean enough. There will be no pictures..so don't ask!
  • Pucker up buttercup

Yesterday, Sofie kissed a bear.. I but her lips up to mine..and I really thought she was going to bite me.. (for real) and she didn't do anything. This morning..she AND Yonna kissed me!
  • Another good reason to have a fro

Another good reason to have a fro
Sofie has been hiding food in her hair. Not sure if she intends on saving it for later or as a means of hiding food she doesn't want.
  • Walk with me.. Talk with me

Walk with me.. Talk with me
The spirit got into Sofie....she stood up...and walked across the room! It was more like a trot.. or a prance.
  • No tree hugger here!

    No tree hugger here!
Sofie was found next to the house plant. She pulled the leaves off and bits of leave were found in her clenched hand and a spec on her cheek. She was no where near the plant five seconds before I cuagh-found her.
  • GO-GO Gadget Arms!!

She can reach on her tip toes to turn off the bedroom light. If you turn the light back on.. she says.. Thank You
  • As easy ABC... 123

    As easy ABC... 123
Sofie can count to ten.. you have to really listen carefully but she is counting. If you say "1".. she'll say "2".. all the way to 10. She can also sing the ABC song, but you have to listen really really carefully.
  • 3...2....1... BLAST OFF

Sofie said while sitting in her highchair.. The twins watch a ridiculous amount of television.. She can also say.. "Grandpa..I did it", "My turn", "Peek a boo, I see you". She can say and identify a duck, pig, doggie, kitty cat, crayon.. the list goes on.
  • Hey you guys....hey...hey you guys..... hey

Hey you guys....hey...hey you guys..... hey
Sofie can deliver a line as if she means exactly what she says. She approached Yonna playing on the piano and said... "Hey.. What doing?". At night she'll say in the most pleasant voice: "Good night!" and then she'll cry because she truly doesn't want to go to bed...but you could have sworn she wanted to be the delightful way she said goodnight. She also sings "Happy Day Day" (happy birthday) the same way Ella used to. She can sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and "I love bugs" from YoGabba
  • Sofie should be a toy tester

Sofie should be a toy tester
Sofie always manages to get stuck somewhere. When she was baby.. you could find her under the couch. Now, you can found her arm stuck in the toy box, or tangled up in a doll stroller. I bet the toy manufacturers were like "ooo there is no way a baby would do something like that.. it's safe..it's good to go" If you want to find a weakness in a toy.. she's your girl!
  • Potty Time

Sofie used the potty for the first time... Officially..well not officially..I sat her down on it..but she didn't like initiate it or anything.. I am still mega thrilled though.
  • "P... Puh Puh.. P"

    "P... Puh Puh.. P"
Sofie knows about 20 letters and the sounds they make. She gets a kick out of calling out the letters as you draw them on the etchasketch. Be warned though.. if you put it down..she will go into a super rage.. She also likes to identify drawings.. It's surprising how she interprets the drawing.. like: Dinosaur, Dolphin, Pirate, Unicorn, Mermaid... I know right... how does she even know these words!
  • I love you...

    I love you...
    Sofie: I love you mommy..
Mommy: ::Gasp:: I love you too!
    Sofie: I love you Ella
Ella: ::not phased:: I love you too Sofie Sofie made her way around the room telling everyone how much she loved them.... Okay... I will only say this once.. Maybe Barney isn't so bad after all! "I love you..you love me.. we're a happy family..."
  • Ear Piercing

    Ear Piercing
Well..what can I say... WOW...uh...yeah WOW.. Sofie faught... kicked... slapped..it took three people..a crowd gathered..and the manager considered shutting down the store... There were tears... but a lil Hagan Daz made all those tears disappear.. and I was a good mommy again.
  • Knock Knock.. Who's there?

She can actually go through a knock knock joke..and know's one of her own.. Something about.. Boo Who? Don't cry...
  • "What's your name?".. "I'm Mommy"

Sofie loves to play the game.. "what's your name?".. She goes through a whole list of names that she claims to be.. "I'm daddy..I'm Steve.. I'm Mommy... I'm Barney..."
  • Locked Out

    Locked Out
The twins locked me out of the house today.. Stepped outside to wait for Ella's bus to arrive.. returned to the front door..only to find the screen door was locked... why do they hate me?
  • Lefties

    Lefties
It appears that Yonna and Sofie will be writing with their left hands. :)
  • O Chrismakkah Tree..Ooo Chrismakkah Tree

    O Chrismakkah Tree..Ooo Chrismakkah Tree
The twins found some mint candy in a bowl..on top of the piano.. They started decorating the tree well before I did.. they threw the candy into the tree to see what would stick.
  • Tattle Tell

    Tattle Tell
Sofie "tattles" on Ella for the first time. I know I will probably grow very tired of hearing about who did what to whom.. but for now..It is soo cute. I think Ella did another one of her couch cushion creations.. and built a bridge of some sort. Sofie: Mommy.. Ella ..made ..the bridge fall.. I don't think I quite captured what she said..but that was the general idea of what she was saying.
  • Big girl bed

    Big girl bed
Sofie gets her very own room.. She just loves to sleep and most of the time she puts herself down for a nap or bedtime. Steve and I have been changing her and brushing her teeth soon after dinner..just in case.
  • Come Here Kitty

    Come Here Kitty
Sofie refers to Yonna as kitty... Yonna always responds with ...meow.. It turns out that Yonna refers to her as doggie...and rubs her head... This is good..cuz we aren't getting any pets..
  • Sofie Sayings

    Sofie Sayings
"May I climb up to you?" or "I want to pick you up" - This means that she wants YOU to pick her up. "I'm scary" - This means that I am afraid of this thing..and she says this often btw. And some times (most times) she means the very opposite of what she says.. but you have to know when. "I had a good time at the zoo" This means she wants to go to the zoo.. She says this several times a day.. EVERYDAY
  • Tattle Tale

    Tattle Tale
Mommy.... Yonna touched my dress! Daddy... Yonna had an accident (occured 3 hours before).. I thought some how..the tattling would pass them by.
  • Why ask why..

    Why ask why..
"Why?? WHY?? WhY??" Where is this mechanism that turns itself on for all 3 year olds?? I'd like to disable it until "Why" is used properly and not intended to tire me out.
  • Play the girl notes!

    Play the girl notes!
Sofie and Yonna were playing at the piano. Yonna was going to play..and Sofie was going to dance. Yonna began playing merrily...until she was stopped by Sofie.. "No Yonna!! Don't play the boy notes... play the girl notes!" This means.. she wants her to play the higher keys..and not the lower keys.
  • Curious George.. The curious lil monkey

We were talking about the presidents..and explaining who the first president was to Ella. We asked her again..who the first president was and Sofie says.. Curious George!
  • Inside Joke

    Inside Joke
Sofie has an inside joke..where she says.. "Banana Diaper" and just laughs herself silly... I ask her what that is..and she says..she doesn't know... so... okay... I guess you had to be there.. :)
  • Mommy.. I have to tell you something..

Mommy.. I have to tell you something..
    This is what Sofie does..
She says.. "Mom.. I have to tell you something".. then she whispers.. "About Astronauts.. to the moon".. "Will I be an Astronaut?"
  • I can read!

    I can read!
For a while now, Sofie has been asking "what's that word?". We just thought she was inquisitive... well she is inquisitive.. because she can now identify most of the sight words.. and can read in early reading book!! We are amazed!
  • Sofie isn't very subtle

Sofie found me at my computer this morning. She said Good Morning (at least and then said.. Hey mommy.. you know what starts with B?? Ba Ba Be Breakfast.. yeah.. that's right.. how about some of that in there (pointing to the kitchen).. I kid you not..she said that..
  • "Yonna clean up my mess"

Sofie is notorious for asking Yonna to clean up behind her. If I ask her to clean up her mess, she then delegates the task to Yonna. If I ask her to bring the dinner dishes to the sink, she'll say "Yonna will do it"... No .... Yonna won't do it..and hasn't.
  • Toilet in Space - Sofie's dream

It was a moving bathroom. The people in it were moving. It was a spacegirls bathroom. The toilet was behind me. I came back to my room and slept in Yonna's bed to read a story.
  • Dear So and So

    Dear So and So
"Dear Mommy.. I love you. Best friends forever. Please tell daddy not to step on me. He has to say sorry." This is a scribbled note Sofie handed me and I asked her to read it... If you ask her to read the same letter, she will change it up to suit the situation. Clever girl.
  • Daddy...You're wearing a dress

Steve was teased today (during the month of anti bullying) as I was posting a picture of our wedding day to celebrate our aniversary. I think he was mega handsome in his.... ::snicker:: dress.
