Bloor is awarded the John Desmond Bernal Prize from the Society for Social Studies of Science. The JDB prize was started in 1981, and Bloor is one of thirty-eight whom have won this prize. He received this award due to this work in distinguished work in the field.

One of Bloor's latest concepts which was done in 2008. His concept was called "Relativism at 30,000 feet". This was a concept that Bloor called "cultural relativism". One of Bloor's examples he used "Airplanes built according to scientific principles
