Under this term are grouped two revolutions that occurred in Russia between February and October 1917, the second of which ended with the election of Moscow as the capital of a nation that became a communist state. -
The March on Washington
The march for civil rights, also called the March on Washington. Organized by, among others, Martin Luther King, this rally was a key moment in the history of African Americans. -
Soweto Riots
Their purpose was to participate in a demonstration against apartheid, to protest against a law that forced young people to study half of the subjects in Afrikaans, the language of Germanic origin spoken by the ruling white minority. -
Islamic Revolution
Period in which the Iranian population staged numerous clashes against the Pahlavi dynasty, which had the support of the United States. After the overthrow of its leader, an Islamic state was imposed under the dictates of Grand Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. -
The Sung Revolution
Although the name of this demonstration evokes a revolution, it was totally pacifist. The Sung Revolution, between 1987 and 1991, led the Baltic peoples of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania to independence. These three countries sang patriotic hymns to protest. -
Colors Revolution
These protests led to changes in the politics of these countries: a new round in the presidential elections was organized.
They all have in common that they are popular, pacifist and pro-Western revolutions.
