Blogger was bought out by Google which allowed them to expand and create a larger platform for free blogging. -

Was launched at Harvard, originally ONLY for college students. -

The site was made for people to upload personal videos and for video and media hosting and sharing. -

Facebook began to allow students in high school to join the network. -

For quick, text-based, updates periodically; limited to 140 characters or less. -

Facebook began to allow ANYONE with an email address to join the network. -
Edmodo
Allows teachers to communicate with students in a Facebook "like" setting. Since it's start, it has over 3.5million users worldwide. -
Twiducate
Creates a medium for teachers and students to continue their learning outside the classroom
