    The first site aimed at social media but was found too pushy by users and faded out. It allowed users to create profiles, invite others, and organize groups. It is important because it was a stepping stone for future networking sites like Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter.

    Google is important to social media because it is the top internet browser. Google has continued to grow and develop. Google has google chrome, gmail, google maps, google translate, and more.

    Friendster was a more successful social networking site than Six Degrees. It was created to meet and date new people through friends of friends.
  • Linkedin

    Linkedin
    Linkedin was a social networking site but had a more professional aim. It has been around for over a decade now and still growing. I see LinkedIn expanding rapidly here in the future.

    Myspace also was designed for social networking but added music, music videos, and funky new environment than other sites in the past.
  • Facebook

    Facebook has emerged from its IPO, which was to connect college students to the most used social media site.

    YouTube was created to share video content and still does so today.

    Twitter was designed to keep tabs on friends similar to texting but through updates on the social network. The 140 character count is based off of texting and has not changed even though Twitter has grown.

    An app created to share photos exhibits social media because even if there are not really "words" in the post, pictures still communicate a message to others. I think it's a large step in social media because it shows us that you don't necessarily have to "talk" anymore to communicate with one and other.

    Snapchat allows to way communicate by sending pictures and message back and forth via a app. However, interaction is short because the max time on Snapchat for a message is 10 seconds. It Snapchat gives you an idea of what those around you are doing by their stories.

    I do not believe that social media will ever end, it will continue to develop and evolve. I can only imagine what is going to come next.
