the japanese society was under the rule of Tokugawa shogunate, the following years had peace and prosperity because of the increase of art and culture, the society had art that was mostly focused on nature and it was mostly represented in poems . -
exclusionary laws
strict laws were enforced, they included all foreigners being expelled, no one could come in or leave japan, even if they were a citizen of japan. All christians were killed so japanese could keep their religion. These laws were enforced until 1858 -
Avenge of their Lord
in japan 47 ronin were banded together to avenge their master(shogun) who was forced in to ritual suicide they ended u[p killing/avenging the other leader "Kira". The group ended up committing ritual suicide for committing murder their deaths were seen as the sigh of loyalty to their master. -
Commodore Perry
The japan society were shook when they saw a great big black ship on the coast of japan, people grew scared and saw them as a huge threat but the shogun thought this would be a great opportunity to open up. The ship was brought in and was welcomed, People who worshiped the emperor were scared that the west were taking over. The last shogun was soon to perform ritual suicide because of making bad choices to japan culture. -

Meiji Period
During the Meiji period japan westernised. Japan had just got out of a isolation period. People from western countries were coming to Japan and Japanese people were changing to fit in. The emperor came back to power. -
Unequal Treaties|| Westernization
Japan was westernized and opened to the west, this started with Japan being pressured into signing treaties that only gained power to the west.Japan was mixed into western culture and people soon saw that they were losing their culture. Education, Dressing, food, ect. Were soon changed.
