May 4, 1856 Violence and aggresion occur in Kansas creating the event, "Bleeding Kansas." May 14, 1856 President Buchanan was elected and hopes to settle the slavery debates. Jun 29, 1857 Slaves are considered property as a result of the Dred Scott Decision. Mar 26, 1858 Lincoln and Douglass discuss slavery and its jurisdiction. Oct 30, 1859 John Brown raids Harpers Ferry Arsenal and is tried with murder and treason. The North and the South are in more disagreement with each other.
