Billy First Becomes Unstuck in Time
While Billy is "fighting" in World War II, he leans against a tree and is sent through time to multiple other points in his life. This is the beginning of a pattern of hallucinations that Billy goes through regarding the affects that being in war have on him. -
Billy Is Taken Prisoner By German Soldiers
Billy is left behind by two of the other stranded soldiers, he and the last party member, Roland Weary, are also found by German soldiers and are taken prisoner. Upon first confrontation with the German soldiers the soldiers take their shoes and other clothing articles that are better off than what they were wearing. -
Billy is Discharged from the Military
Billy is honorably discharged from the military, and when he returns back to Ilium he marries the daughter of the founder of the Ilium School Of Optometry. -
Fire Bombing of Dresden
The city of Dresden is the location of the slaughterhouse that Billy was held prisoner in, and is destroyed by American/British bombings. This annihilation forces and allows Billy to escape the prison along with others. It is a significant cause of the severe post traumatic stress that Billy struggles with. -
Billy is Abducted by Tralfamadorians
Billy is abducted from his home by the Tralfamadorians and spends some time with them. He learns things from them like the motion of time, their ideas on free will, and so on. He is put on display in a zoo for the Tralfamadorian people to look at. The Tralfamadorians might have been created by Billy's mind in place of the Germans that took him captive. Their imprisonment of Billy and their speech with him somewhat resembles that of his interactions with the Germans in real life. -
Billy is Involved in a Plane Crash
Billy is involved in a plane crash in Vermont that kills everyone on board except him. His wife Valencia while driving to the hospital Billy is in, gets in a car crash which destroys part of the exhaust and because of this destroyed exhaust she passes out from monoxide poisoning just as she pulls into the hospital. Valencia dies in the hospital after they can't treat her poisoning. -
Billy Goes to New York
He wants to spread the message of how the Tralfamadorians view time and how it works, he tries to get on a television with his message but in the end his only option is was a late night talk show for literary critics discussing whether or not to "bury" a book. After he is kicked out he goes to an adult book shop where he buys a book written by Kilgore Trout. -
Billy Dies
Billy is assassinated by Paul Lazzaro with a supposed laser gun. This delusion is correlated to the actual event of the bombing of Dresden.
