Burrhus Frederic Skinner
was born March 20, 1904, in Susquehanna, Pennsylvania. -
Recieved Bachelor of Arts in English Literature
from Hamilton College, in 1926, where he also belonged to the Lambra Chi Alpha fraternity. -
Skinner recieved his PhD
at Harvard University in 1931. -

Invented the "Skinnerbox"
Also known as the "Operant Conditioning Chamber". The box contained a bar or a key that the animal could press in order to recieve food, water, or some other form of reinforcement. -
Invented the "Baby Tender"
At the request of his wife, Skinner invented this enclosed heated crib. -

Skinner became the became the psychology dept. chair at the University of Indiana in 1945 and stayed there until 1948. -
Skinner was awarded
the National Medal of Science in 1968. -
