Skateboarding was dicoverd in the early 1950's in California. California is a surfer state so when the ocean was quite, the surfers came up with something else. The skateboard. The first skateboards were made out of wooden boards or boxes with rollerskate wheels on the botton. -
skateparks
Through the years skateboarding became more and more popular. There were built a lot of skateparks around the countrie. There are some in Copenhagen but also some around the country. Because skateboarding isn't that popular in Denmark, many skaters just skate around in the city they live in. They often just skate on the sideways and tries to jump up and down the stairs. -
Competitions
There are a lot of competitions around the world for the pro skaters. Not that many in Denmark but more in the united states. Skateboarding is not an olymics diciplin yet but will be in the future. Skateboarding will be a part of the olymics in Tokyo 2020 along with climbing and surfing. -
The best skaters
One of the best skaters in the world is Tony Hawk. He is 48 years old now so he does'nt skate that much anymore, but he defently goes down in history. One of the many reasons why he got famous was because of a trick he did in the 90's, a 900. He was the first person to ever land it. A 900 is a 2-and-a-half twist in the air.

skaters style
Skateboarding is not just a sport. it's also a style. it's very comment thing for skaters to wear baggie chothes like a hoodie and lose pants and a laid back atitude. Many skaters also wear a cap sideways. Some skaters also express themself throw what's on the back of their boards. It's like a special design.
