Sister Irene was killed, and found guilty of the crime of feeding the poor.
On May 21st 1991 Sister Irene McCormack was found guilty of feeding the poor. She was escorted through the streets for a public trial at the Plaza, and for 2 hours were shouted, bullied and interrogated . At 8 pm they were shot and Sister Irene was first. Irene decided to become a missionary and decided to go to Peru. Going to Peru meant that learning the language was a challenge, becoming adjusted to the high altitude and poverty. -
The Shining Path
The shining path was described as the mot deadliest revolutionary force in the world. They take the lives of more than 22,000 poor people. Their aim is to cause disturbance among the people to topple the government. Any person who encouraged and made people feel confident was regarded as their enemy therefore Sister Irene became one of their targets.
