Alice Ross King (previously spelt Alys Ross King) was born in Ballarat, Victoria. He parent where Archibald Ross King and Henrietta King.

on the 5th November 1914, Alice enlisted as a staff nurse to join the war. Alice's first name changed the spelling from Alys to Alice and her last name was also hyphenated to Ross-king.

Sometime in January, Ross-King arrived in Cairo. This was her first location.

Sometime in April 1916, Alice was moved to Rouen France. Which is where she would stay for the duration of the war. Ross-King moved around a little going to places that were close by like, St Omer, Trois Arbres and Sutton Veny.

The 2CCS was bombed at night. Alice and other nurses went into tents shattered by bombs to rescue patients, either carrying them to safety or placing tables over patient's beds in an effort to protect them. Alice and other nurses where awarded the Military Medal for their actions during the attack.

On the 28th of September 1917, Alice Ross-King was awarded the Military Medal due to her courage and coolness of the bombing of the No. 2 CCS
