  • First Home Computer

My family entered the personal computer market later than my peers. AOL was king and connections were lost at the pick up of a land line. The included Encyclopedia Britannica CD became a favored too in my early educational endeavors.
  • Introduction to The Facebook

Preparing for college, I received my first .edu e-mail address and was granted the exclusive access to the then college only The Facebook. Shortly after getting access Facebook rebranded without the "the" and opened access to those outside the college realm.
  • First Cell Phone

While my friends had all been on family plans, my parents had decided this to be an unneeded cost. Only after getting a job would I be allowed to purchase and have a cell phone. I was solely responsible for the bill, and it helped me to learn proper budgeting skills. The only abilities were talking, numpad texting, and a camera that took very pixelated images. image credit: https://www.mobilecellmart.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/400x400/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/2/_/2_30_4.jpg

While I had played online multiplayer games before, WoW was my first foray into an MMORPG.While the subscription service provided too much of a cost, I would later return to Azeroth where the game became a way to socialize with friends through a LAN. image credit:

  • First Online Class

I attempted a summer course on russian Fairytales. I dropped the class shortly after beginning because I did not have the discipline required to complete the work on time. I would be turned away from taking online courses until 2016 when I gained the focus and drive to be responsilbe for my work, and class structure would require all assignments to be completed online while lectures and exams were held in person.
  • Re-Entering Academia

Starting work on a 2nd Bachelor's, my 3-0year old laptop had become obsolete, and so I took advantage of the computers on campus, as well as the speed of and applications available on a Kindle Fire Tablet, to complete assignments. This was the first time I did not have a copmputer capable of handling the rigors of education.
