Microsoft Office was released
Charles Simonyi was the one who started and led the creation of Microsoft applications which built the basic versions of Microsoft office. Microsoft office provided 3 of the most used applications being excel, powerpoint, and word. Without these basic applications become real out of idea, it wouldn't have been developed and have more features. Things would be more challenging for us if it wasn't for these 3 applications. This changed the course of history within schools and businesses alike. -
The Invention of Alpha
Alpha was a 64-bit RISC microprocessor that was a major advancement at the time leaving 32-bit behind. It didn't take long for other companies to take this product and add their own improvements which led to us having a more powerful computers later on. -
The Release and Popularity of Doom
It was highly debated whether a pc game would stack up against console games but when Doom released it was a very huge hit which ended that debate real quickly for they had their answer. ID Software were the publishers of the work of 5 main developers of the game the game was made for DOS. This advancement started many upcoming games for computers and led to what we have today. -
Javascript
Brendan Eich developed a more loosely typed programming language that took a some concepts from C and Java which made it more familiar. The name comes from two separate things, the script coming from it being recognized as Livescript and the Java from the support for the Java language from Navigator who was the company he made the language for. It was released in 1996 and was popular in the 2000's. The creation of this language led to many new software that changed the world of computers. -
DVD
An advancement away from CD's and VHS with a Digital Video Disk that had a much higher storage capabilities and became the new standard for audio and video. It was in a very high quality compared to its prerequisites and were more interactive with its viewers. There were a variety of companies working together on the creation of the dvd. Was invented in 1995 but was released in 1996. This was popular for a long time until we had many ways to view videos and movies online with streaming services.
