Captian Cook first Voyage
Captain James Cook was a British explorer, navigator, cartographer and captain in the British Navy. In 1770 Captain James Cook set off on his first voyage, he traveled along the east coast of Australia and named it New South Wales. -
The First Fleet Arrive in Australia
Between 1788 and 1850 the English sent over 162,000 convicts to Australia in 806 ships. The first eleven of these ships are today known as the First Fleet and contained the convicts and marines that are now acknowledged as the Founders of Australia.The first fleets intensions were to create a colony in Australia, to solve the problem of the full prisons in England. -
The Irish Potato Famine
The Irish Potato Famine took place between 1845 and 1851. Just before the Irish Potato famine broke out, Ireland had a population of 8 million. More than 3 million people in Ireland were eating potatos by the early 1800's. -
The Industrial Revolution
The Industrial Revolution was were many peoples jobs were taken as there were now machines to do there jobs. People who did not have jobs in factories were forced to work in over-crowded and disease ridden areas. -
