morley grammar school
morley grammar school opens on the 19 october 1552. This was the first grammar school that was founded in leeds. -
St Johns Church is built.
This church is the eldest church in leeds city centre. In was built in 1632-34. A turbulent time in England when very few new churches were constructed. -

This was the first newspaper in leeds was very, very important for people in leeds because they could now get news on a daily basis. -

In the 1800's the population rises to a staggering 30,000 and then a few years later it goes even more staggering by over 100,000 people. -
H.H Asquith is born.
H.H Asquith is born on the 12 september 1852. Then at that point he was onr of the most famous people who came from Morley. -
World War 2 begins.
During the Second World War 77 people in Leeds were killed by bombs and 197 buildings were destroyed. It was one of the werst things that had been done to leeds. -
The town hall disaster.
The town hall fire was the werst thing done to the town hall. It burnt the clock tower however not the rest of the building. -
