Passed a temporary law that the government could test people who they suspected on using drugs. -
Florida
Passed a law that went into effect on July 1, 2011 to drug test recipients. If they fail they are inelligible for a year, they may reapply in 6 months if they passed programs. ACLU filed a civil law suit to stop the bill. The issue is still pending in a final court ruling. -
Missouri
Missouri passed the law to implement drug testing to those who acted like they were on drugs. The bill was signed on July 12, 2011 and took effect on August 28, 2011. -
Georgia
Passed the bill that all aplicants will be drug tested upon applying for benefits. The bill was signed on April 16, 2012 and went into effect on July 1, 2012 -
Proposed Law
28 states put forth proposals requiring drug testing for public assistance applicants or recipients, 14 of them are still pending. -
Oklahoma
Oklahoma passed the bill on May 16, 2012. The bill went into effect on November 1, 2012.
