Knights of Labor is a union group started in 1878.
The setting was Philadelphia.
This was considering the first BIG UNION due to it allowing anyone to join regardless of gender, position, or age.

The May Day Strikes
The May Day strikes happened in 1886 in Cincinnati.
The strike was focused on the very low wages people endured, and work hour improvements. During this time, people worked mandatory 12 hour workdays. Pullman Strike
Set in Pullman, Illinois.
Considered to be the first true strike due to the nature of the strike and the size.
Government stepped in and attacked the workers, killing many.
The workers were striking due to reduced wages and layoffs.

Women's Trade Union League President gets arrested
In NYC, women working at a factory pulled a strike.
the President of the Women's Trade Union League gets arrested for trying to stop a strikebreaker. She claimed she got hit in the face by the strikebreaker but was arrested because the strikebreaker claimed she was harassed. This shone a light on workplace conditions. It was an event which led to a fire at a factory. It showed the increase of rage and strikes spreading throughout the nation. New York TImes "arrest strikers for being assaulted" -
Women See Changes in Fort Wayne
In Fort Wayne, Illinois women started to see changes in the work culture in the late 1920's. Thanks to WWI, GE started hiring more women to do more jobs that men did. in 1918, GE started hiring and training women to do new types of work positions. Empirical data study shows women shift in work
In America as a whole, women started to see what years of strikes worked towards. Not only were many aspects of work changing thanks to consistent demands, but most importantly, women were become freer.
