United States Declares War/ Zimmerman Telegrah
January 1917, a german offical, Aurther Zimmerman sent a telegram to German Ambassoder in Mexico asking him to make an offer to the Mexican government. If Mexico agreed to become an ally of Germany in war with the US, Germany promised Mexico to regain lost territory in Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona after the war. -

Russia Leaves War

Kessler Field
Kessler Field, which became one of the largest and most important Army Air Corps airfields and training bases during WW1. Kessler Field remained active and important info till the end of the 20th century. -
First Airplane
The United States Army bought its first airplane in 1908. In April 1917, when the airplane entered the war, it had a total inventory of about 100 aircrafts. At the same time France had 1,500 aircrafts. -
Harold Riley's achivements
Riley was decorated with the "Military Order of the Purple Heart," given to Americans injured while on active duty. It is now on of his grandsons possesion. -

Harold Riley received his Pilot's "Wings" in Tours, France, about easter. 1918 Riley was upgraded as a Second Lieutenant in the Army Air service. -
Airplanes Bomb Trenches
Airplanes offered both ways to counter a trench warfare. The British sopwith camel could carry 4-5 small bombs to drop into enemy trenches, and artillery. The warplanes also attacked the troops by using machine guns. -
The Fourteen Points
President Wilson arrived in Paris in January of 1919. Wilson brought with him a peace plan known as the Fourteen Points. Wilson believed that if the Fourteen Points were implemented they would establish the lasting peace in Europe. Later this is called League of Nations.
