Civil Rights
In 1866 a bill pass to gave the freedmen's Bureau.The Bureau setup special courts to charged with the African American's right.The African could not sit in the courts and judge the white southern.The Radical Republicans pushed the civil rights through congress 1866.The laws gave the government power to protect the Africans. -
Reconstruction
10 of the former confederate and not ratified the fourteenth amendment.The congress passed the first Reconstuction Act. -
14th Amendment
The congress did not worry about the courts might overturn the civil rights.In 1868 it propsed another amendment to constitution.It took the next step by stating that the language protected citizenship. -
15th Amendment
Some southern states rejoined the union by the time presidential election.It guaranteed that the state could not deny the right to vote.
