8:14 am - Second plane takes off.
The second plane takes off at 8:41 am. An United Airlines Boeing plane, containing 65 people. -
8:20 am - Third plane takes off.
American Airlines flight leaves at 8:20 am. 64 people are on board this plane going to Los Angeles. -
8:41 am - Fourth plane takes off.
United Airlines plane takes off at 8:41 am. Scheduled to take off at 8:00, containing 44 people. -
8:46 am to 8:47 am- First plane crashes.
Flight 11, hijacked by Mohammed Atta, crashes into the 93-99 floors of the North Tower of the Trade Center. NYPD and FDNY are on the site of the crash and Port Authority Police Department officers are evacuating the North Tower. -
8:50 am - President Bush is informed about the attack.
Chief of Staff Andrew Card tells George W. Bush, who was visiting an elementary school in Florida, about the attack on the World Trade Center. -
9:03 am - Flight 175 crashes into the South Tower. 9:08 am - Flights get cancelled.
Flight 175 hits floors 75-85, killing everyone on board and hundreds in the building. All flights going to New York or around New York are banned. -
9:31 am - President Bush speaks about the attack.
President George W. Bush speaks about the attack from Florida. He states "apparent terrorist attack in our country." -
10:28 am - The North Tower falls.
102 minutes after being struck the North Tower falls to the ground. -
8:30 pm - President Bush speaks out to the nation.
President George W. Bush calls the attacks "evil despicable acts of terror" and that American and their allies will "stand together to win the war against terrorism." -
