Nosferatu
Nosferatu is a German Expressionist horror film. This film was directed by F.W. Murnau, starring Max Schreck as the vampire Count Orlok. Nosferatu is an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula, which plays a huge part in the reason why this film is of significance to the horror genre and is classed as a seminal film. Nosferatu was based on sex and death which was being introduced to society during those times through horror films. -
Psycho
Psycho was directed and produced by Alfred Hitchcock. It is a movie considered to have changed Cinema films and the horror genre all together. Psycho contains one of the most iconic and memorable scenes in cinema history. Hitchcock killed off Janet Leigh's Marian within the first 45 minutes. Killing off the lead character so brutally shocked the audience and left them with no one to follow. -
Blood Feast
Sexploitation gore-fest director Herschell Gordon Lewis' career was launched with this low budget cult film. It was filmed in only nine days. Blood Fest had a budget of 25,000 dollars. The film is usually considered to be the first distinctive 'splatter' film for its excessive gore, blood, violence and bodily mutilation.Its inspiration was Alfred Hitchcock's massivly successfull film, Psycho. -
The Return Of Count Yorga
Director: Robert Quarry. The creators of the first Count Yorga, initially had a horror-orientated softcore sex movie mind but Robert Quarry convinced them to transform their production into a more serious horror film with excellent results especially given the limited resources available to the film makers.The film ended to be a hit for distributor American International Pictures and a bigger budget was put into the sequel which is superior to the original. -
Nightmare on Elm Street
American Slasher film and was written and directed by Wes Craven and came out with a budget of 1.8 million dollars.The film went on to gross over 25 million at the United States Box Office. A nightmare on Elm Street was met with rave critical reviews and went on to make a very significant on the horror genre. -
Halloween 2017
Halloween, by David Gordon Green, is a USA film about a woman, Laurie Strode, who comes to her final confrontation with Michael Myers. A masked figure who has haunted her since she very slightly just escaped his killing spree on Halloween night, four decades ago. On September 15, 2017, Jamie Lee Curtis announced on twitter that she would be taking the role as Laurie Strode in the film that was set 40 years after the original Halloween in 1978. -
Get Out
Get Out was written and directed by Jordan Peele. It was chosen by the National Board Of Review, The American Institute, and the time magazine as one of the top 10 films of the year. The film was a Box Office success, with a gross of $255 million worldwide and had a budget of 4.5 million. The film earned four 90th Academy Awards nominations.
