    Palestrina is known as the 'savior of church music'. After the Protestant movement, the Church was about to ban church music. Palestrina composed the Mass of Pope Marcellus, which convinced the Church that music had its place during worshipping.
  • Gabrieli

    Gabrieli composed as the shift from Renaissance to Baroque eras was occurring. He gained fame while working as an organist in Saint Mark's Basilica in Venice.
  • William Byrd

    Byrd is possibly the most famous English composer of all time. He wrote famous works such as Ave Verum Corpus.

  • Tomaso Albinoni

    Albinoni helped write "Adagio in G minor", a very famous piece.
  • Vivaldi

    Vivalvi was a composer known for composing many pieces extremely quickly. He also was famous for helping the transition from the Baroque to the classical period. One of his famous works is the Four Seasons.
  • Handel

    Handel was the first in his family to make a living composing, and he was extremely good at it. Handel wrote sacred music in operatic style. His most famous piece was "The Messiah". During this piece, King George II, and the entire audience followed.
  • J. S. Bach

    Bach is probably the most famous Baroque composer. He wrote for many different churches and was the master of the fugue.

  • Billings

    Billings was the first famous American composer. He is known as the father of American choral music, such as Sacred Harp singing.
  • The USA Declares Independence

    The USA declares its own independence from Great Britain, giving inspiration to many revolutions to follow.
  • Mozart

    Mozart was a child prodigy, and he wrote operas, symphonies, and concertos with ease. He could compose pieces wholly in his head.
  • Haydn

    Haydn had lots of time to compose and experiment when he stayed in a Prince's court. He was not allowed to sell his works for a very long time. However, he wrote very famous works, such as Emperor's Hymn, the Austrian national anthem.
  • Boccherini

    Boccherini was Italian and he also played the cello. Unlike many composers, he also composed guitar pieces.
  • Napoleon is Defeated at Waterloo

    Napoleon loses during the Battle of Waterloo, effectively ending the Napoleonic Wars and his conquests. He is exiled.
