Columbus Lands in The Americas
On October 12, 1492, Columbus and his expedition first land in modern day Bahamas. Columbus landed on many islands in the Caribbean when he and his crew first reach The Americas. -
Jamestown
Jamestown or Jamestown Settlement was founded by a group of about 100 English settlers and was the first English settlement in North America. The settlers living there had many conflicts with the Natives to the land who don't like these new people invading their land. -

SLavery Started in the United States in 1619. A Dutch ship brought about the first 20 slaves to the United States. -

The first pilgrims to land in America, arrived by a ship called the Mayflower. The Mayflower landed in America in 1620. Many people going to the "New World" were protestants of religious battles in their home country. -

The Boston Tea Party was an important event in American history because it was one step that we took as a country close to independence. The Boston Tea Party was when many colonists raided english ships with tea on them and threw all the tea into the harbor. -
Lexington and Concord
Lexington and Concord was a Battle fought on April 19, 1775 and this battle marks the start of the Revolutionary War. Hundreds of British troops made their march to concord to seize an arms cache. Paul Revere and other alerted many which leads to Confrontation at Lexington where the battle begins. -

The Declaration of Independence Was Ratified on July 4, 1776. This marks the 13 colonies becoming independent from British authorities. Jefferson Drafted it with 5 sections, He wanted to get the point across that independence from Britain was "Necessary". -

The Constitutional Convention took place from May 25 to September 17, 1787 in a state house in Pennsylvania. The Convention was intended to revise the states local governments but instead the intention was to create a new government rather than fin the existing one. So they started form Scratch. -

The Cotton Gin was invented in 1794 and this heavily increased the demand for slaves because the Cotton Gin increase the manufacture rate of cotton. More and more slaves were put to work in the south. -

Thomas Jefferson was President of The United States from March 4, 1801 to March 4, 1809, a two term presidency. Jefferson was the first president to be inaugurated in Washington D.C. Jefferson was an author for the Declaration of Independence and had democratic views. -
Louisiana Purchase
The louisiana Purchase was the Purchasing of a large chunk of land in modern day mid west America by the United States. 828 Million Square miles of land was purchased for about $15 Million. The ratification happen on October 20,1803 to make the purchase. -
Missouri Compromise
The Missouri compromise legislation passed on May 18, 1820 is the compromise that admitted Maine as a free state and Missouri as a slave state. This is supposed to maintain the balance of power between North and South. -

Andrew Jackson was the 7th President of The United states from 1829 to 1837. Andrew Jackson gained nationally noticed as a war hero and is the man who sent Lewis and Clark on their Expedition. Andrew Jackson is now on the $20 bill. -

The Indian Removal act was put into place by Andrew Jackson on May 28, 1830. The Indian Removal act established a process where the president can grant land to Indian tribes west of the Mississippi River. -
Dredd Scott v Sandford
Dredd Scott v Sandford also know as the Dredd Scott Case Ruled that "A negro, who ancestors were imported and sold as slaves whether enslaved or free he could not be an American Citizen. This lead to Scott being unable to sue in court. -

Abraham Lincoln was the 16th President of The United States. He was first elected in 1861. Lincoln was president during and shortly after the American Civil War. Lincoln Bans Slavery in the United States. -
Attack on Fort Sumter (start of Civil War)
The attack on fort Sumter took place over two days in April of 1961. The Battle was 34 hours of exchanging artillery fire. This led to the surrender of 86 soldiers. Confederate troops maintain possession of Fort Sumter throughout the Civil War. -
Emancipation Proclamation
The was put into place after the Union won the battle of antietam on September 22, 1862. The Emancipation Proclamation stated that all slaves in rebellious states were to be forever free. Ironically its not the Emancipation Proclamation that freed any slaves. -
Battle Of Gettysburg
The Battle of Gettysburg took place on July 1 - July 3 in 1863. This war was a turning point in the Civil War. Robert E. Lee and his Troop Pull forward on the Union Successfully. -

The 13th Amendment Abolishes slavery in 1865. This is a big step for America in the right direction. But, this just leads to horrible segregation in America. -
Surrender at Appomattox (end of Civil War)
The Surrender at Appomattox took place on April 9, 1865, in a town close to the Appomattox Court House. Confederate Robert E. Lee Surrendered his troop to Ulysses S. Grant at Appomattox. This effectively ended the Civil War. -
Lincoln Assassination
President Lincoln was assassinated on April 14, 1865, by actor John Wilkes Booth. Booth Fatally Shot Lincoln from behind. -
13th Amendment Ratified
The 13th Amendment Abolished slavery in America on December 6, 1865. Slavery ended but Segregation had just begun. -
Chinese Exclusion Act
The Chinese Exclusion act is on of the first laws restricting immigration into the United States. Congress passed act to maintain white "racial purity". Odd because the Chinese only consist of .002% of the population. -
Sherman Anti Trust Act
The Sherman Anti Trust Act was passed by congress in 1890 when Harrison is President. This law tries to prevent artificial raising of prices on trade and supply. -
Plessy v Ferguson
Plessy v Ferguson was a Supreme Court case in 1896 regarding the segregation and "separate but equal" doctrine. Plessy Claimed that his constitutional right were violated when he was asked to remove him self from the "white only" train car. -

Theodore roosevelt became the 26th President of the United States in September of 1901. theodore Roosevelt was vice president until he assumed presidency after the assassination of William McKinley. -
Henry Ford Takes Over Automobile Industry
Henry Ford is the founder of Ford Motors. He began with his first car, the Model T. This car was popular across the country. -
Wilson Presidency
Woodrow wilson is The United States' 28th President. Wilson Assumes presidency on March 4, 1913 and serves until 1921. Wilson is the President during WWI and uses his "America First" slogan to get re-elected. -

On June 28,1914 marks the start of WWI, Although it started in 1914, The United States did not get involved until 1917. The big thing that set the war off was the killing of Archduke Franz Ferdinand. -

The 19th Amendment gave women the right to vote. The Amendment was ratified on August 18, 1920. This is a goos step forward for women because voting is one of the big right that only men had for a long time. -
Excessive Use of Credit
In the 1920s, many people began to use credit to buy items for themselves and not worry about it because it on credit, but you have to pay that money at some point. Many people invested with credit and ended up owing a lot after the stock Market Crash. -

The City of Chicago Illinois began to have very similar traits as Harlem although some slightly different. Chicago made up there own type of music and didn't grasp onto what Harlem was doing. They wanted be original. -
Stock Market Crash
The Stock Market Crash came in 1929. People call it "Black Tuesday" the day the crash hit Wall Street. Many investors had lost all there money and could no longer invest. Over a Billion dollars was lost in the Stock Market Crash.
