National Food Service Management
The Association works with the National Food Service Management Institute to develop nutrition integrity standards. These are used in the 1994 development of Keys to Excellence: Standards of Practice for Nutrition Integrity, a self-assessment tool designed to assist operators in improving their programs. -
Child nutrition
Child nutrition programs are challenged, as Congress seeks to cut government spending. The “Contract with America” includes welfare-reform provisions to cut all child nutrition entitlement programs in favor of block grants to the states. Block grants are defeated, and child nutrition programs remain intact. -
