  • Special Milk Program

    The Special Milk Program is a program that began in Chicago in 1940. This program provided needy children with the milk they needed to help with bone structure & more. They provided the children with a low price half-pint of milk.
  • Free and Reduced Lunch Program

    The Free and Reduced Lunch Program is a program that allows some kids enrolled in school to get free/reduced lunch. It was passed by former President Harry Truman. They changed it to make sure that each lunch included 1/2 to 2 pints of whole milk.
  • Milk Program included in the Child Nutrition Act

    On October 11, 1966, the Special Milk Program was signed into law (along with the Child Nutrition Act) by former President Lyndon B. Johnson.
  • Summer Lunch Program

    The Summer Lunch Program provides a healthy & nutritious lunch to kids 18 years and under, regardless of if they're in school at the time or even enrolled. The program started as part of a bigger pilot program in 1968, and then became a separate program itself in 1975.
  • School Breakfast Program

    The School Breakfast Program is a program that provides breakfast to students that attend public schools, non-profit private schools, and residential child care institutions. It started off as a 2-year pilot project, then made permanent in 1975.
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program

    The Child and Adult Care Food Program is a program that was launched to ensure that eligible children and adults who attend qualifying non-residential care facilities receive nutritious meals. It was started & funded by the United States Department of Agriculture, and it provides reimbursement to qualified caregivers for meal and supplements.
  • Department of Defense Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program

    The Department of Defense Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Program was started by the Department of Defense. It started off as a pilot program during the 1994-1995 school year. It was ran in 5 different states. By 1997, it was running in all states. Then by 2010, it was running in the Virgin Islands, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Guam.
  • Let's Move! Program

    The Let's Move! Program is a program launched by the First Lady Michelle Obama. This program's focus is to reduce childhood obesity in the US. It also focuses on making sure that children get outside more and making sure that they have access to healthy foods.
