Savion Glover was born in Newark, New Jersey. -
Rhythmic Roots
At age four, young Savion began taking drum lessons. -
Trying Tap!
At age 7, Savion began taking tap lessons with his two brothers for fun. Little did he know, his love for the rhythmic movements would later lead him to becoming the greatest tapper to ever live.
Fun Fact - Savion used to tap in a pair of cowboy boots before he was able to get his first pair of tap shoes! -
Broadway Baby
While studying at Manhattan's Broadway Dance Center, Savion's agent had him audition for a Broadway choreographer, which led to him starring as the lead role in the Broadway musical "The Tap Dancing Kid" when he was ten. -
Sesame Street
Savion joins the cast of the children's television show, Sesame Street. -
Happy Feet
In 2006, Glover choreographed and provided the dance movements as Mumble for the children's movie Happy Feet! He went to do the same five years later in Happy Feet 2. -
Wins Tony
After starring and co-writing the Broadway musical, "Bring in 'da Noise, Bring in 'da Funk", Savion Glover wins the Tony Award for Best Direction of a Musical! -
Choreographer
What was once the Newark School of the Arts, Glover now owns and teaches in the building where he first learned to play the drums.
