FUNDATION
At the point where the town is located today, it was where Alonso Fernández de Lugo disembarked on May 3, 1494 to begin flirting with the island, planting a hill that names the town. After the wind and evacuation of the conquistadors on the first occasion of Acentejo, the conquistadors returned in 1495 with a better armed host and disturbance. The flirtation ended in 1496, and Santa Cruz became a simple fishermen's farmhouse, drug addicted from La Laguna , then flow of the island. -

Mother Parish of Our Lady of La Concepción
This is the main mausoleum root of the city, it is also called "Cathedral of Santa Cruz" although it is never a cathedral. It was built on the first hermitage that was built by the Spanish conquerors shortly after landing in Tenerife. In 1499, work began to erect the mausoleum dedicated to the Holy Cross. Plague epidemic
Around the year 1582, Santa Cruz de Tenerife had about 750 inhabitants, however, that same year there was a great flow of plague that reduced the town to only about 250 inhabitants. -

Tenerife tram
On June 2, 2007, the first tramway in Tenerife was created, linking the Santa Cruz Transport Interchange with Avenida de la Trinidad in La Laguna, and later a line connecting La Cuesta with Tíncer.
The company that controls it is called Metropolitano de Tenerife, Sociedad Anónima (MTSA).
This is the only existing rail transport in the Canary Islands.
