  • South Carolina slave act 2

    Any slave attempting to run away from their colony received the death penalty.

    Willful killing of a slave exacted a fine of 700 pounds, and "passion" killing 350 pounds.

  • Virginia slave act 4

    A fine of $100 and six months in prison were imposed for employing any black or slave as a clerk, for selling or giving alcoholic beverages to slaves, and for teaching a slave to read and write.

  • 13th amendment

    This amendment abolished all slavery, this put an end to all the suffering.

    This amendment gave all men the right to vote, no matter the color of your skin. This was a big step for the rights of African Americans.

  • 19th amendment

    This amendment gave women the right to vote. This was a huge step in getting women's rights.

  • 22nd amendment

    This allowed the president to serve a max of 10 years in office.

  • 23rd amendment

    Took out a "poll tax" or a tax that was needed to be paid in order to vote

  • 26th amendment

    Set the national voting age at 18. This set the boundaries once and for all for who was considered an adult.
