1968
In 1968 the San Diego Padres were founded, and they entered National league West with the braves, giants, reds, dodges and astros. In their first game (in what is now 1969) in the major leagues they beat the astros 2-1. After the season was over the finished 52 wins and 110 losses and in last place. -
New uniforms!!
The padres get rid of the old ragity uniforms, and inroduce the new white, yellow and brown jerseys. They wore the these colors from 1975-1985 -
1984
The padres finally have a winning season (92 wins 74 losses to be exact) and make the playoffs. They beat the cubs in the national league championship and faced the tiger in the world series. But unfortunetly the lose 4 games out of five to the Tiger and lose in the world series. -
New Uniforms!!!
From 1986 through 1992 they wore the brown pin stripes. On the left sleeve are the initials “RAK” in memory of owner Ray Kroc who passed away in 1984. The team wore his initials from ’84 to ’86. -
First Retired Number
Steve Garvey entered the Hall of Fame and the padres retired his number in 1989. From that day forward, not a nother padre would wear the number 6. -

Randy Jones
Randy was the second of padres to get their number to be retired. He played 8 years with the padres and had an overal E.R.A of 3.67. He had a ledgendary season in 1976, winning 22 games and losing 14, with only avereging 2.74 runs per game.He got his number retired in 1997. From that day forth, not a nother padre would wear the number 35. -
1998
the padres make the world series for only the second time in franchise history. But the bad news for them, they had to play the New York Yankees. The Yankees sweeped the padres, they won 4 games out of four and eliminated them. -
New Uniforms
The padres got rid of the pinstripes and the orange and introduced the plain padre jersey, that just says 'PADRES' accross the front. -
Dave Winefield
Dave Winefield played 8 of his 18 years in San Diego. He won 7 gold gloves, 6 silver sluggers, and one reberto clemete award. In his career he batted 2.83 with 465 homeruns and 1,838 runs batted in. From that day in april on, not a nother padre would wear the number 31. -
Tony Gwynn
Tony gwynn to many was cosidered the best padre of all time. He was even one of the greatist left fielders ever. He won seven silver slugers, five gold gloves, one lou gehrig , and one reberto clemente award. He played 20 years in the MLB and batted 3.38 with 135 homeruns and 1,138 runs batted in.From that day in august, not another padre would wear the number 19. -

The Padres left the old Qualcom Stadium, which at the time three other teams played at, and came to Petco Park -
Trevor Hoffman
Trevor Hoffman is number two on the all time saves list. He had so many legendary season which ended up as a legenday career. He ended up pitching over 1,000 innings, had 601 saves, and had en ERA of 2.87 in his career. From that summer day in august, not another padre would wear the number 51. -

The padres have new jereys again! They changed thier emblem to an SD. And Added stipes down the buttens.
