Samantha Cristoforetti is an Italian astronaut, born on 26th April 1977 in Milano. She has a brother Jonathan Cristoforetti. She is married with Lion Ferra and she has 2 children. -
Education
In 1994 she decides to further her studies by moving to the United States of America. -
Her studies
In 2001 she graduates in Mechanical Engineering and after that she starts her career as a military pilot by being admitted to the Aeronautical academy. -
Chosen for space
In may 2009 she is selected as an astronaut by the European Space Agency -
The space mission
Samantha’s most recent mission is to the international space station (ISS). The space shuttle they traveled on is called Crew Dragon Freedom. In this mission Samantha has supported numerous international experiments in a microgravity environment. Crew-4 departed on 27 April 2022 and spent 6 months in orbit -
The arrival
Freedom undocked from the station on 14 october 2022 and arrival was made on the coast of Florida.
