Teletext was a service within the TV that slowly displayed News, sports scores, and lots of other info. You were able to book vacations and insurance etc from teletxt. Each page took ages to load, and if you missed the info you wanted you had to wait ages for the page to 're-loop'. The internet made teletext redundant -
