Sacagawea was born in Lemhi County, Idaho around sometime in 1788. There is no exact date of her birth. The spelling of her name is sometimes 'Sacajawea' or even 'Sakakawea'. -
Sacagawea was captured by an enemy tribe and then sold to a French-Canadian trapper who married her.
Sacagawea was captured and sold to a trapper and the married him. His name was Toussaint Charbonneau. She was only 12 years old when she was captured and around 14 when she was married. He was 21 years older than her at the time. There is no exact date of the marriage but it was around 1800. Within a year of their marriage their son was born. -
Sacagawea began her expedition with Lewis and Clark.
Sacagawea joined Lewis and Clark on their journey. They originaly wanted her husband but she spoke a language they needed to be interperated. Her husband also joined them. They needed to know the language wso they could get horses from a local tribe. -

Sacagawea gave birth to her son while she was helping Lewis and Clark with their expedtition. She nicknamed him 'Pompy'.
