    Clemson college opens for men who want an agricultural or engineering education. University of South Carolina's agricultural program was shut down and moved to clemson.

    The South Carolina Dispensary opens via Benjamin Tillman to limit the sale of alcohol in S.C.

    The South Carolina constitution is brought into effect by governor Tillman, severly impeding African American rights. These included the right to vote and the right to participate in public forum.
