1.) Diversity in religion and culture, people wanting to split off from Mother Russia. Was the largest populated country in the world (still is) Great world power, vast resources: oil, coal, gas, etc... Global intrest and influence. western powers didn't like the ways they were ruling. Econamically undeveloped, feared it would underline their power. didn't wanna get rid of their middle class. majority of russians were serfs; was and is an old ruling system. -
