Decembrist Revolt
At the Decembrist revolt the military went against Alexander who was czar at that time. Alexander then gave up his position as czar, and gave it to his brother. This Revolt was the start of a revolution. -
Nicholas II becomes czar of Russia
Nicholas II was the last czar of Russia. He took the throne after his father died in 1894. He was known for the big outbreak called Bloody Sunday. He married a German Princess named Alix. Together they had 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. Their son has a case of Hemophilia. -
The Russo-Japanese War
The Russo-Japanese War was a war between Japan and Russia. They had the Russo-Japanese War, because both Russian and Japan wanted more land. The land that they both wanted was the Manchurian and Korean land. In 1905, both countries came to an agreement, and signed a peace treaty. -
Bloody Sunday
People go to Nicholas II and protest their wants. Nicholas then commands officials (military) to open fire on the people. After this mishap there were more and more protesters, and riots throughout the city/country. -
World War I (Russian Involvement)-
Russia was involved in WWI by attacking Germany first. At this time Russia was allies with Britain and France. It didn’t go as planned, because Germany turned around and hit Russia. This was a tough time for Russia due to the large amounts of deaths. In the end Germany gained more territory. During the war, the people at home starved. -
The March Revolution
The March Revolution took place in Petrogred. During this time riots and strikes broke out. The main reason these riots and strikes broke out was because they were protesting about the war. -
Czar Nicholas II abdicates the Russian throne
Military troops went against Nicholas II. Nicholas then abdicates the throne. After that, the family goes for a family picture, and comes to find out that it wasn't really a family picture. Soliders open fire and kill his family. -
The Russian Civil War begins
This war was between the Bolsheviks and Menshevik. The Bolsheviks were communist and the Menshevik were democracy. Leon Trotsky was known for helping and training the Red Army. -
The creation of the U.S.S.R
After the Civil War, communist won, and gained the majority of Russia. Russia then got it's new name the U.S.S.R. The U.S.S.R stands for Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. -
Vladimir Lenin’s Death
Vladimir Lenin was shot on January 21st 1924. He did a lot for Russia such as: fight in wars, and help make peace. Lenin will always be remembered, because the city Petrograd was renamed to Leningrad.
