Decembrist Revolt
Nicholas I took the throne over from his brother Constantine which led to an uprising within a group of people. Although the plan failed it gave hope to the future generations that they would overthrow the czars. But because there was a lack of support and organization with the plan. The Decembrist Revolt proved that the peoples loyalty to the Czars was receding. -
Nicholas II Becomes Czar of Russia
When Nicholas II became Czar he didn't have any leadership skills or any way of knowing how to run the country. He led them into sevral wars in which they lost food, soldiers, and his ability to run the country. His inability to run the country is what led to the Bolsheviks taking the throne. -

The Russo Japanese War was fought between Russian and Japenese empires.To do this Japan stopped russia from expanding further. Japan became the first asian power to defeat a European power in the modern times. -
Russian Involvement in WWI
Russia got involved in the war because of serbia. Serbia was attacked by Austria/Hungary. Russia made it their duty to protect the Slavics and when they heard they were being threatened they immediately stepped in. -
March Revolution
The March Revolution started when demonstrators went on strike. the troops that went to stop the uproar ended up joinin in on the revolution. The impearal government was forced to resign and the Duma formed a provisional government. -
Czar Nicholas II Abdicates the Throne
After WWI the army started protesting and the throne was taken from Nicholas II. When Nicholas II Abdicates the Throne it is the end of czars rulling Russia. Later Nicholas and his family were taken away and killed in Yekaterinburg. -
Russian Civil War
There was a conflict between the treaty of Brest-Litovsk which led to the Bolsheviks and the Mensheviks splitting up.During this time there were secret police everywhere(cheka). They wanted the non-bolsheviks gone and to do this they led a campaign. Because the secret police wanted the non-bolsheviks gone and the mensheviks and the bolsheviks were split up there was a civil war by 1919. -

After the war the Bolshevik party established a socialist state where all levels of government were controlled by the communist party. -
Vladimir Lenin Death
Vladimir Lenin died of a brain hemorrhage at age 54. After he died ther renamed Petrograd Leningrad in his honor. Joseph Stalin replaced Vladimir Lenin after his death in the Soviet Union. -
Bloody Sunday
Bloody Sunday was a massacre starting when the chief of security told policemen to fire at protesters who marched to the winter palace to tell the czar what they were seeking (equal over 100 protesters were killed and many more were injured. After this massacre czar nicholas earned the name "Bloody Nicholas. This massacre and other revolts was the beginning of the Revolution of 1905
