The Cold War was between two world superpowers, the USA and the USSR (Russia), that started in 1947 at the end of the Second World War and lasted until the dissolution of the Soviet Union on December 26, 1991. The Cold war had a Positive affect on the world because it helped create new machines and expanded are technology. -
Korean War
On this date people from North Korea crossed the 38th parallel into South Korea. US then went into to the war vs. North Korea and China. Russia was supplying weapons to North Korea and help them. The Korean had a negative affect because it didn't change anything. They are still speared by the 38th parallel to this day. I just killed people. -

U.S. Hydrogen Bomb
On November 1, 1952, the United States announced it had successfully detonated a hydrogen bomb but they started creating it in 1950 This type of bomb was made out of deuterium and tritium that are fused into helium, which released energy. There is no limit on the yield of this weapon. Than in 1953 Russia came back and said that they also have created a Hydrogen Bomb. There was a big impacted in this argument because they just created something that they never will use. -
Austrian State Treaty
The United States, the Soviet Union, the United Kingdom, and France signed the Austrian State Treaty on May 15, 1955. This officially ended the four-power occupation of the country Austria and enabled people in Austria, who had pledged to remain neutral, to receive diplomatic recognition as an independent nation. This had a positive effect because Austria got to become a new country and the US would have another ally. -

On October 4, 1957, a Soviet R-7 intercontinental ballistic missile launched Sputnik the world’s first artificial satellite and the first man-made object to be placed into the Earth’s orbit. After Apollo 11 landed on the moon's surface in July 1969, six more Apollo missions followed by the end of 1972. Arguably the most famous was Apollo 13, whose crew managed to survive an explosion of the oxygen tank in their spacecraft's service module on the way to the moon. -

Cuban Missile Crisis-Positive because the people thought that there president beat the Russian president
After receiving intelligence that the Soviet Union was placing medium-range ballistic nuclear missiles in Cuba, on October 14, 1962, President Kennedy announced a naval quarantine of Cuba to block further Soviet missile deliveries, and demanded the removal or dismantling of the missiles already in Cuba. On October 28, Khrushchev agreed to stop work on the Cuban missile sites and to remove the missiles that were already in place. In return, the United States had to take out there missiles too. -

In March 1965, President Lyndon B. Johnson committed the first U.S. combat ground troops to Vietnam to aid the South Vietnamese Government in its war against Soviet-assisted North Vietnamese and Viet Cong forces. This had a Negative affect on the US because it was the first war that they lost. It was hard for them to get around all the surprise attacks.
