    Napoleon's powerful army invades Russia but fails and it is defeated by the very cold winter and army.

    26 million deaths and damages against infrastructure but the Soviets help the Allies win.

    After WWII, The Soviet Union becomes one of the world's superpowers with the largest nuclear weaponry while America to the threat of communism.

  • Space Exploration

    Sputnik 1 was the first artificial satellite launched by the Soviet Union.

  • SE Yuri Gagarin

    Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space onboard the Vostok.

  • The Cuban Missile Crisis

    The soviets place missiles in Cuba. The U.S. refused and after thirteen days the Soviet Union came to an agreement. This was the closest the U.S. and Soviets to nuclear war during the Cold War.

  • Soviet-Afghanistan War

    The Soviets have little success against the Afghanistan rebels and leave in 1989 defeated.

  • Boris Yeltsin

    Yeltsin becomes the first president of the Russian Federation in 1991. Because of radical reforms it leaves Russia in economic crisis and is dominated by poverty and violence through the last decade.

  • Putin Becomes President

    Vladimir Putin becomes president in 2000. He subdued the economy to recovery by energy and mineral resources. Improved the standard of living.
