John Rutsy's brother gave the idea to name the band Rush. -
Rutsy leaves Rush
Rutsy leaves Rush due to health problems and a distaste for touring weeks before first tour. He is then replaced by Neil Peart. -
First Album
After recruiting Peart, Rush released their first album Fly By Night/first elements of Progressive Rock that is what they are known for today -
Second album release
Rush quickly followed Fly By Night with Caress Of Steel/harder progressive rock rather than their first album which showed us a blue's hard rock style. -

Rush enters the 5 year haitus
Rush enters a 5 year haitus after the tour of Test Of Echo due to Selena Peart (Neil Pearts daughter) died in a car crash in 1997. This tragedy was followed by the death of Peart's wife Jacqueline in 1998. They do not return until 2002 -

After 5 years of grieving for the deaths of his family Neil Peart finally announces his return to his bandmates and they get to work to start making music again in 2001. -
